Levemir [insulin detemir (rDNA origin) injection] NovoLog [insulin aspart(rDNA origin) injection] NovoLog Mix 70/30 [70% insulin aspart protamine suspension and 30% insulin asart injection, (rDNA origin)]

The prefilled, disposable FlexPen® is designed to be discreet and portable, but care should be taken when handling the FlexPen®.

The following tips help to ensure that FlexPen® works accurately and safely, as intended. Store unused FlexPens® in a refrigerator (36°F to 46°F; 2°C to 8°C) but not in the freezer. Do not use FlexPen® if insulin has been frozen.

Keep unused FlexPens® in the carton so that they stay clean and protected from light.

After starting to use a FlexPen®, do not refrigerate it. However, do keep FlexPen® as cool as possible (below 86°F; 30°C). Keep all disposable, prefilled FlexPens® away from heat and direct sunlight.

If your FlexPen® is unrefrigerated and contains:

  • Levemir®, it must be discarded after 42 days, even if it still contains Levemir®
  • NovoLog®, it must be discarded after 28 days, even if it still contains NovoLog®
  • NovoLog® Mix 70/30, it must be discarded after 14 days, even if it still contains NovoLog Mix 70/30®
